Hyvä Roadmap 2026: What's Shipped and What's Building

Contents

TL;DR

  • hyva.io/roadmap tracks six product lines in two columns: Completed (59 items) and Building (10 items).
  • Completed work clusters into five themes: Hyvä CMS is now a real content platform, CSP hardening covers storefront to checkout, Adobe Commerce/B2B parity is largely reached, media optimization is solved, and there's a long tail of framework and UI polish.
  • Building right now: Email Templates, Linked Products, Visual Product Merchandising, Magewire v3, and Custom Attribute Handling are in beta. Hyvä POS, Form Builder, Store Credit, Gift Cards, and AI content generation aren't in beta yet.
  • Our own Typesense module has its own visual merchandiser already. We're adding an option to pick either that or Hyvä's when Hyvä Commerce is installed.
  • Hyvä Solstice 2026 recapped 7,600+ live Hyvä sites and teased an SEO Suite, native Blog, and PDF Builder for the CMS. Hyvä Hive returns to Germany on October 21, 2026, as a side event to Meet Magento Germany.

A Roadmap Page, Worth an Actual Read

hyva.io/roadmap has been public for a while now, it's not a new page. I finally sat down and read through the whole thing properly instead of skimming it between meetings, and it's worth the time. Six product lines tracked side by side (Hyvä Commerce, Hyvä Enterprise, Hyvä Checkout, Hyvä POS, Hyvä UI, and Hyvä Theme), sorted into two columns, Completed and Building.

There's no "Planned" column, just what's done and what's actively in progress. That's a useful amount of restraint for a roadmap page, and it made it easy to actually read through what's there.

The Completed column alone has 59 items. I'm not going to make you scroll through all of them, but I grouped them into five themes so you can see where the effort actually went.

What's Already Done

Hyvä CMS went from nothing to a full content platform

This is the biggest cluster by far, and it's the one I actually want to sell you on. Most theme vendors treat content management as an afterthought. Hyvä built a real one: a Liveview Editor that shows your changes on the actual storefront as you make them, not a separate preview pane that's always slightly wrong.

It started with the ground-up build of that editor and its initial component set (Layout, Elements, Media, Products, Embeds, and Hyvä UI Components), then kept expanding: Drafts, Content Versioning & Rollback, Content Import/Export, and Tailwind JIT support so you can apply custom Tailwind classes to any CMS component without touching PHP.

On top of that base, Hyvä added a Menu Builder for mixed-content menus, attribute content management for products and categories, reusable templates and snippets, a Google Maps component, Marquee and Video components, AI-assisted content translation, and content scheduling for bulk-prepping and publishing later. There's also a tool to import legacy Page Builder content, so migrating off it isn't a rebuild from scratch.

Watch it build a page in real time:

None of this is theoretical marketing copy. It's built for people who need to publish a landing page or a campaign without opening a ticket for a developer, and from what I've seen of it, it delivers on that.

CSP hardening, storefront to checkout, done

Content Security Policy support used to be one of those "mostly works" areas. Not anymore. Hyvä ticked off storewide CSP support, full checkout CSP support, CSP-friendly versions of every Hyvä UI component, in-context payment buttons under CSP, default PayPal CSP support, and Adobe Payment Services CSP support.

Hyvä Enterprise customers get one more: CSP support across Theme and Checkout for all Adobe Commerce and Adobe Services compatibility modules. That's the kind of unglamorous plumbing work that saves you a support ticket months down the line.

Adobe Commerce and B2B feature parity reached

All Hyvä Enterprise territory here. Adobe Commerce General Availability for Hyvä Theme and Checkout landed, alongside B2B General Availability for Hyvä Checkout. B2B 1.5 brought Negotiable Quote Enhancements (drafts, duplication, renaming), Negotiable Quote Templates, and Company Hierarchy support.

Rounding it out: Gift Registry for Hyvä Theme, Google Tag Manager compatibility, Multiple Wish List compatibility, a Data Connection to Adobe Experience Platform, and Express Payments support for smart payment buttons. If you've been holding off on Hyvä for an Adobe Commerce B2B project because of a missing feature, it's worth checking this list again.

Media optimization, solved

Six items here, all pointed at the same problem: images are expensive, and resizing them shouldn't be a manual chore. Developers can now declare discrete image size sets per area, offload resizing and conversion to a queue or run it via CLI for batch jobs, and rely on a standardised on-the-fly resizing and conversion framework.

Two smaller but useful additions: automatic image replacement in existing HTML and CSS, and animated image support, meaning GIFs get converted to animated WebP automatically. Here's what it looks like in practice:

Framework, UI, and design polish across the board

The catch-all category, and it's a long one. The admin side got a Widget Framework for the dashboard (with CrUX data and sales metric widgets), switchable Dashboard Views, a refreshed Hyvä Admin Theme, and a Media Gallery Image Editor integration powered by Filerobot. There's also a new Hyvä AI Providers and Framework, a standardized way to build AI-powered features on top of Hyvä UI.

The image editor is worth its own look too, since "edit a product photo without leaving the admin" is the kind of thing that sounds small until you're the one without it:

On the frontend: Design Tokens and CSS Variables support, Tailwind v4 support, View Transitions, and reworked Accordion and Slider components (twice over, first improved then further enhanced). The PDP got a new Gallery, Map, and Embed component set plus a visual and code overhaul of the gallery and swatches.

Cart and Checkout both got design refreshes. Mobile got new Menu, Breadcrumbs, Buttons, Pagination, and Search Form components, and checkout autosave moved from one big checkout-wide directive to per-field autosave.

What's Being Built Right Now

Ten items in the Building column. Five are already available in beta, five aren't there yet. Worth knowing the difference before you plan a project around any of them.

  • Email Templates (beta): create and manage email templates through Hyvä CMS, with a client preview.
  • Linked Products (beta): show product variations on listing and detail pages grouped by a defined attribute, without spawning duplicate variant URLs and the SEO mess that comes with it.
  • Visual Product Merchandising (beta): a visual tool for managing which products sit in which category.

This one's personal for us. Our own Typesense-Magento-2 module already ships an Algolia-style sortable product table on the category edit page: drag and drop products to pin them, promote or demote specific items, or hide them entirely, all synced to Typesense's curation rules. We're not ripping that out for Hyvä's version. Once Hyvä Commerce's merchandiser is stable, we'll add a setting so you can pick either one, depending on whether you're running Typesense or not.

  • Magewire v3 support (beta): new features and performance improvements to the Magewire checkout framework.
  • Custom Attribute Handling Improvements (beta): better handling of custom attributes inside shipping and billing address forms.
  • Hyvä POS: Point of Sale for Magento, a native iOS app that turns an iPad into a retail terminal. Not in beta yet.
  • Form Builder: build forms directly through Hyvä CMS. Not in beta yet.
  • Store Credit: native store credit built exclusively for Hyvä Theme and Checkout, with Hyvä POS support. Not in beta yet.
  • Gift Cards: native gift cards built exclusively for Hyvä Theme and Checkout, with Hyvä POS support. Not in beta yet.
  • AI-Powered Content Generation & Tooling for Hyvä CMS. The source page cut this description short, so I'd rather leave it vague than guess at specifics. Not in beta yet.

Beyond the Roadmap Page

The roadmap page is a snapshot, but the community around it has been busy too. Hyvä's Solstice 2026 townhall in July recapped the numbers: over 7,600 live Hyvä sites, the Netherlands leading with 1,700+, the US at 1,200+, and Emerce ranking Hyvä the number one commercial software in the Dutch market. 500+ agency partners are now in the mix, and 1,250+ contributions have come through their new partner portal.

More relevant to the CMS section above: the Solstice recap teased an SEO Suite, a native Blog, and a PDF Builder as future Hyvä CMS additions, on top of everything already listed on the roadmap page itself. If the CMS keeps growing at this rate, "just a theme" stops being an accurate description of Hyvä pretty quickly.

I talked about pitching against Shopify without competing on feature checklists at Hyvä Developer Paradise this year, you can watch it here if you're curious: How I Won a Shopify Pitch Without Competing on Features.

And if you're in Europe this October: Hyvä Hive returns to Germany on October 21, 2026, at Pyramide Mainz, as a side event the day before Meet Magento Germany's comeback conference. We're on the MMDE organizer team this year, so if you're coming to either event, come find us.

Looking Ahead

What strikes me most is that Hyvä is willing to publish this at all. A public Completed/Building board is also public accountability. Anyone can go check whether "Available in Beta" actually ships to stable, or whether Hyvä POS quietly stalls for a year.

For merchants and agencies picking a Magento frontend and checkout stack right now, that transparency is worth more than any single feature on the list. You can plan a build around Store Credit or Gift Cards without betting on a rumor, because you can see exactly where they stand.

Ten items still say Building next to them. Check back before you assume any one of them is done.
